Without knowing more about the situation, 1. do whatever it takes to clean up after yourself - all the things people have been suggesting: write a letter/poem, apologize profusely, send a gift, whatever. 2. promise never to do whatever you did again. 3. if necessary, and if it wouldn't make the other person not trust you, and if you've already done the things above, a grand gesture is often a good tonic for poisoned friendships: fly there and apologize in person, send 5 dozen roses to where (she?) works, whatever. Do whatever it takes to make things right again, and make sure the other person knows how sincere you are and how sorry you are.
