I don't think I'd want to be with any girl who would fall for pickup lines. Maybe i've just heard bad pickup lines though...
I find just talking to a woman by saying hi and introducing yourself (usually i start out with something I could talk about with her and catch her name later with "I didn't catch you're name, i'm <name here>" ).
