When my grandmother died, my brother was excited that he received some of her money.
I didn't give a stuff about the money, but was really happy that I was given her 12" cast iron frying pan. It was new (only 20 years or so old) but well looked after, and had a wonderful temper. One of the most annoying things that happened to me during my university life was that someone stole if from a locker in the kitchen of my student residence (or dorm ar I understand it's called in the States).
I have stainless cookware now, with 2" aluminium and iron bases, and they're good - but they're not the same.
My mother has the twin of the one that was stolen (she bought two, one for herself and one for my grandmother) and in due course, I suspect it will come to me or my daughter.
