I would think that break times would be the better time to have a job during school. That is typically when most teens work. Personally, I wasn't allowed to work any time but during breaks or on weekends. My parents thought--and I agree with them--that school should come first.
While work teaches responsibility, so do academics and extracurriculars. I learned more from my extracurriculars than I ever would have at any job during high school (i.e. working fast food, pizza). I volunteered a lot, and the skills from those experiences are ones I still use.
What is the money being used for that she has to work 10 hours a week? Is she saving it up for something?
