Whiskey doesn't tend to go well with lighter beers, in my experience.
The porter/stout suggestion is the closest.
I love bourbon-brewed porters, dark ales, and stouts.
The 30th anniversary Sierra Nevada does go really well when you're drinking Balvenie, I have found. A hearty oatmeal stout blends well, too, but avoid Young's Double Chocolate when drinking whiskey... lol.
