I don't currently use Whey very often, but I have used the powder in the past. I prefer a mix of whey and soy, personally, because whey protein alone gives me horrendous gas. It does the same to most mortals.
I used it to supplement my protein intake when I was lifting, and it did help me make and eat more satisfying meals quickly (smoothie for breakfast instead of eggs, for example). I like it for its versatility.
I also have brown rice protein, and add that to more savory meals. Whey protein I've found to only be compatible with sweet, unfortunately.
