I was poor as dirt at 20 but if you get creative the whole charming, poor, bachelor thing can be quite endearing. Its amazing how well mac and cheese goes over for dinner when you spread a blanket on your empty living room floor and light a cheap candle or how turning down the lights and snuggling on the futon while you watch a movie on your broken down 10 inch portable dvd player can be the most romantic thing you can do.

When you need/want to go out there are all sorts of things you can do without money...I once bought a 50 cent kite to play with when I brought a girl I liked down to the beach (or the park or vacant lot whatever), she loved it. But it wasn't about flying a kite it was a conversation piece. She asked me to show her how to use and I had to wrap my arms around her when I showed her (all sorts of touchy feely goodness), when it inevitably wouldn't stay in the air we got a laugh out of watching it crash and burn time and time again...it was just something to do on a nothing budget. Its about taking the effort to make the time you spend together quality time and doing what you can to make it feel special.
