Touchdown Jebus is gone
If you've driven down (or up) Interstate 75 through Monroe, you've seen Touchdown Jesus. Or, as Bob & Tom referred to him, Big Butter Jesus. The statue (I guess that's what you'd call it?) was struck by lightning earlier tonight, and almost completely burned down (pictures show what looks like the frame left standing...it looks creepy. Well, creepier than the statue.)

MONROE, Ohio -- Monroe police dispatchers told News 5 a bolt of lightning struck the Kings of Kings statue at the Solid Rock Church, catching it on fire.
Dozens of viewers called and e-mailed to report that they also saw the statue ablaze on Monday night.
News 5 photographers were not allowed on to the church property. However, several fire companies were called to the scene.
A photo submitted by a News 5 viewer via the Facebook website appeared to show what remained of the statue. The photo evidence suggested the statue was razed to the ground.
The 62-foot-tall statue has been a local landmark along Interstate 75 since 2004. When it was erected, church officials said the styrofoam and fiberglass Jesus was the largest one in America. The torso-up sculpture has a 42-foot span between upraised hands, and a 40-foot cross at the base.
The well-known statue is often called "touchdown Jesus" or "butter Jesus" and is a popular destination for people who wish to take their picture with the statue.
