Right now, I live in a 4900 square foot farmhouse with my mother and sister. So we have over 1600 square feet per person. It's too big - too expensive to heat, etc. We also have 12 acres of land to take care of and 5 barns.
My boyfriend currently lives in a 2700 square foot farmhouse by himself (when I'm not bothering him). Most of the rooms are empty, and I imagine it might get a little on the small side if it ever houses a family with more than one or two kids.
