the following story of critical importance to our lives:
Quote:
Burn discussed his plans at the third-annual Asia Adult Expo, where porn stars, gawking tourists and sex-toy vendors peddling their wares came together to discuss--and show off--their trade in Macau, China's hedonistic gambling enclave.
In contrast to the thousands of neon, rippled, rubber products for sale at the convention, Burn sat at a sleek booth, surrounded by bejeweled items set against black velvet.
"This is the most luxurious sexual product in the world," said Burn, a silversmith from Broome, a town of 15,000 in northwestern Australia known for pearls harvested from the South China Sea. "I find the jewelry industry stuffy and conservative. I want to be the jeweler who is not afraid to let go."
Burn's most expensive product to date costs $38,000. It's a platinum dildo with 400 pave-set diamonds and a handle made of conkerberry wood, a rare timber from his native region. Another model is molded out of white gold that is also studded with diamonds and boasts one large white pearl at its top. With a price tag of $8,000, it comes with matching earrings and a necklace. His cheapest offerings are feathered "ticklers" at $320 apiece.

I wonder whom this sort of product would appeal to. It's not like you can really show it off in public (not much, anyway, and not during actual use). What is the added value that a product like this provides? The encrusted gems can't feel very lifelike.........
Though I did think the matching earrings and necklace was a nice touch. I wonder if those are battery-operated, too.
