Qualified recipients sometimes have jobs. With unemployment so high, many are taking any job they can get, earning barely above minimum wage and may have had nice clothing or cars they had bought a year ago. In order to move up from the low-ranking position, they know they have to play some office politics to be seen as a
company man, so to speak.
The
white bread comment wasn't directed at any particular post, but owning a single broken TV and using milk crates as furniture is hardly the definition of poverty. I'm just trying to say that generalizations aren't truths. And what we think we see isn't always the way it is.
