Revolutionary Road - 6/10
Directed by Sam Mendes, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. A 50s couple unhappy with their lives in the suburbs. Heavy melodrama, lots of DRAMA!. It has been done before and better in movies like
Far From Heaven and Mendes' earlier film
American Beauty. It has also been done better in television like
Mad Men.

Basically, People start going blind for no reason with one character that it immune to the disease gets put into quarantine with all the infected/blind people. It seems like the movie SHOULD have a message about human nature or morality or whatever but there's really nothing to learn from the movie. I kept thinking of the old saying "In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king." but I felt that the only character in the film with sight was almost useless. Sure she helped out a little but she absolutely didn't live up to her potential.

I never saw the movie, but I did enjoy the book by José Saramago. I'll have to avoid the movie.
