Congrats to the Mancs. Yesterday was quite the snorefest with Fergie adoption a 0-0-10 formation, but objective achieved.
I agree with StrangeFamous: The telling difference was United's defense, particularly that stretch of 8 or so games when they managed to grind out 1-0 wins despite playing awfully. Liverpool drew too many of those games, Arsenal lost too many of them.
Btw, based on this season, I reckon Rooney is the best leftback England have after Cashley cole.
Re the discipline issue: I've always maintained that the standard for discipline in Football is disgraceful. FIFA tries fluffy measures under a so-called "Respect" campaign, the results of which are clearly poor. Like Strangefamous, I think that Football should give the ref the same powers as in Rugby, and make the penalties the same. Only the captain should be allowed to approach the ref to question or clarify ref calls. When the ref tells you to go away and you dont - you risk a yellow. When you show dissent at a ref call - you lose 10 yards. etc etc.
Then at the same time FIFA should be more proactive with post-match overturning of wrongful cards.
