I think much of it has to do with the commercials' ability to tap into our "Canadianness" in light of being bombarded by so many American ads. They resonate emotionally, and with humour.

Here are three examples. I don't really like Molson Canadian, as I don't typically drink mass-produced beer. But if I had to choose one, it would likely be it...yes, as a result of their advertising.... *shudder*

I hate Molson's products too (I'm a Sleeman guy and Labatt if I'm drinking on the cheap) but damn they do make good ads. Everyone in Canada knows the "I AM CANADIAN" ads. Thats damn good marketing.
