My personal theory is that Sierra Nevada tastes better because of the open fermenting process that they use for most of their beers (I saw this on the History Channel--super cool, makes me really want to get down to Chico for the brewery tour). But I also imagine that the Cascade hops have something to do with it (developed at my university, by the way). The flavor in your beer may very well come from my neck of the woods--hops are a big money crop around these parts! Cascade hops are known for having a spicy, citrusy flavor, with a nice aroma.
