music server?
Maybe I don't need an iPod. I'm a little leery of the sound quality of an ipod playing over my speakers. Maybe I need a music server.
I see loads of them out there, (squeezebox, etc) but they all require a PC to hold and play the files. Is there a piece of hardware I can stick on my home stereo that will play my MP3's (from an internal HD or from an external HD)? I'm not crazy about the idea of always running a PC (and a monitor, and a router...) somewhere in my house just to listen to music when I turn on the stereo.
If the Squeezebox could play the music right off a drive, I'd buy one today. Any insight? Suggestions?
