I can see advantages for different curves - upward would be good for male dominant sex, downward for oral and doggy style positions and a sideways (either side) would be good for female dominant - not that those are rules or anything - just thinking about personal preference and how I would use the different shapes. The current SO has a very slight upward curve when he's REALLY excited but is pretty straight over all.
Aesthetically I am more attracted to the colour of my partner as opposed to curvature, I love the way a penis can completely change colour when the man in question gets aroused. It's like a squid or a cuttlefish!
