So this is insane. I just got a text message back from my friend: he said that he arrived in Tenerife (in the Canary Islands), from Spain, TODAY. He took a ferry to get there... I don't know what day he left. Otherwise, he just might well have been on that flight.
It's pretty unbelievable.
This is like when my aunt and uncle were flying out of New York on 9/10/01... and I didn't know exactly which date they were flying on, and was so bloody relieved to hear that they flew a day earlier. And yet so very sad about the families who were not so lucky.
