I'm lucky... actually we're both lucky you weren't responsible for hiring at the first company I worked at after graduating from college. I had very little experience on paper compared to those I was competing against, but I understood the cloud better than any of the 40+ year olds I was competing with which meant that I was in a position to provide better insight into eCommerce. And I did. They chose me in spite of my lack of experience because I was better equipped for the position overall. I gave a better interview, my references were stronger, and I got on really well with some of the people I was going to be responsible for managing.
