This isn't always true. Without getting too much into "what makes people fat," not everyone makes it a choice. There are genes, depression, and other factors.
Being fat can be the result of an eating disorder, and you've said you cannot choose whether to have that.
Apples and oranges? Maybe. But they're both fruit.
Even if being fat is somewhat a choice, or, more realistically, a "failure" to conform to a "norm," that does not make it open season for ridicule.
