My main point is in the second line of my post--this neatly puts the vocal expression of Christianity in the same category with gardening and an interest in lighthouses. I don't see at as getting side tracked, actually. I believe that this is the argument being used by a lot of people. And while I certainly hope that we can one day view religion as nothing more than a hobby and getting an "I believe" license plate means nothing more than putting a bumper sticker on your car, in today's environment I believe it is much more than that.

Remember, these license plates must be approved by the state legislature. To me, that's where the issue lies.
