io9 posted a pretty entertaining (and mostly accurate IMO) review of the finale today (obviously spoiler-ific):

The review touches on this, but I feel like repeating the point: RTD really likes his reverse time paradox timey-wimey mumbo jumbo magic! Things happen in the present because of things that happen in the future when those things that happen in the future only happen because of something that happens in the present. And this happens all the time. It's really just technobabble for "we wrote event X because we want event Y and we're too lazy to come up with a reasonable explanation for event Y, so instead we'll just say event X happened because it had to happen for event Y to happen and it's some time paradox, and if we say it with enough complexity the viewers will just swallow it whole!" Every now and then I can accept that, but they've really pushed the limits of those cop-outs over the years. It makes so little sense, I can't even complain about it in a simple manner!

On top of that...can we please stop with the randomly prescient characters who make reference to the future fate of our heroes for no reason whatsoever all throughout the season? I can only hope that Moffat will stop that.

Don't get me wrong, the finale was entertaining...but this stuff makes it frustrating because there's potential for so much more.
