The best part about it is that sometimes it's just enough to be able to get a home for $100/sq ft or even less. Unlike most foreclosures, you can see the state of the property before you make an offer. This gives you the ability to see just how much "get ready" money you'll need to bring the house back to a move in state. For some properties, it's just the cost of painting, others it is paint, appliances, landscaping, repairing holes, doors, and carpeting.
