Here's my breakdown
Miami's pick of Jake Long was stupid for two reasons. One, he'll never be a LT; he is not athletic enough, and his footwork isn't even close to as good as say a Joe Thomas from the year before. He'll be an Elite RT but you don't spend a #1 pick or 66 mil on a RT. 2, Chris Long, Glenn Dorsey, Trade down and Get Branden Albert?
Rams: Good pick. He has a never ending motor. Great size. He's nuts.
Atlanta: Booo... Glenn Dorsey?! Matt was NOT a top five prospect. At all. He is immobile and his game tape wasn't impressive. Brohm was a much better prospect but you could get him much later.
Oakland: Typical Al Davis. All flash. He's the next Reggie Bush; chicken legs, dead on contact. He's "explosive" as long as no one touches him. As soon as he hit that unofficial 4.3 I said out loud "Oakland".
Kansas City: Next to Saints had the best draft. Glenn Dorsey here is a huge steal. I know there was many "Injury Risk" issues but he's a monster. Matt Ryan? Seriously, Atlanta?
Some other stand outs and stupid moves.
Saints: Moves up to pick Ellis, sits back and get almost EVERYTHING they need.
Pats: Wow... Jarod Mayo at 10? When you could have got him at 30-60? What a reach. Almost as bad as...
Ravens: Move up to 18th to get Joe Flacco? What? He's not the next Favre, not even the next JaMarcus Russell; yes he has a strong arm and good size I just don't think he projects to be a solid pro.
Lions: Dear Matt Millen. Quit. Listen, I'm a Pack fan so I'm all about this guy being an idiot and picking Gosder Cherilus instead of Jeff Otah or Rashard Mendenhall but I'm starting to feel bad for detroit.
Seattle: Reached for Jackson. And they didn't even need a DE. It can't be best player available because he wasn't? Not even at that position. Then another reach for Carlson. I'm a huge Carlson fan, he was my favorite TE going into the draft but that is personal. There were better ones.
Packers: Questionable. Brohm, Lee, and Finley were all solid mid round picks but Jorday Nelson? I understand, like you probably all do, that the NFL is a copy-cat league. They see Wes Welker 2.0 but I don't. He's speedy but there was something they needed more, a possession receiver. They had one in either Limas Sweed, Devin Thomas, James Hardy or even Malcolm Kelly. And then Matt Flynn. He better not make the team, he is the poster boy for inconsistant.
