Sheesh, I had a whole long post typed out and my browser died....
My slate, as it were, is pretty simple. I intended to simplify it further by cutting out a few artshows and instead, I'm busier than ever.
I did the first of the year last week; did well and, with feedback and requests from customers, began printing for this weekend's festival in the same town.
Quite randomly about a year ago, I'd begun photographing the diners I and my rider would eat at after a day of cruising backroads in search of another photographic subject I was doing. Seems I now have a "genre" style. These diner photos keep getting voted into gallery shows, so my "slate" consists of printing and framing for them. I have two openings, a day apart, in two different cities.
I have established myself at work as the go-to person for original portrait composition designs and advertising so I will continue to challenge myself with each new order. What started out as one of those "toss it out there" ideas has really taken off with the clientele, much to the owner's delight.
The concept is an easy one-design a single sheet composition of portraits, each in a personalized designed format according to the wishes of the customer. I design faux matting and framing in chosen colors or what I think fits the face and personality of the subject.
I hope to continue my "diner hunt"-at least until I tire of it. I need to redesign my website, if I could just find the time. And I need to add to my equipment
