I didn't laugh, but I know a lot of Danish folk. This is where I throw my unneeded and unwanted two cents from my soap box:
you're going to take this two cents and like it!

One thing that I have never forgotten about Denmark is the way the government commissions for a road to be built.
- A government agent, presumably a civil engineer, determines an estimate of the cost of the road
- Government sets highest payment for this road to be built
- Cost is sent to various contractors
- Various contractors send their engineers to survey the road
- Contractors determine the time they will "insure" the road (guarantee free maintenance)
- Longest time gets the bid
This Danish contractor then moved to the sates, and told me his comparisons working for the American contractor agencies:
- Government sends requests to various contractors
- Contractors send engineers to determine the cost of the road
- Contractors send their estimate to the government
- Government goes with the contractor with the cheapest estimate
Which would you rather have:
- the cheapest road, or
- the road guaranteed to last the longest?
