My kid worked and saved for her first car and she didn't drive it until she could change both the oil and a flat tire. The easy way out would have been to write a check and buy it for her, believe me it would have saved a lot of complaining and drama. But when it comes to parenting the easy way out is almost always wrong, IMO.

A lot of good kids do stupid stuff on spring break, I think they view it as a requirement if you go, but I don't think too many kids can be 'just like her'.
I see every level of spoiled at work every day, and even the worst doesn't come close to this.
