Laws are there to protect the weak and to allow the individual to decide what is best for them. Girls now have to wait until they are 18 to decide. And in Oregon, this 12 year old boy gets to choose. And unless it is a real medical necessity, I don't feel that parents should even be routinely asked at the hospital if they want it done, but I'm sure they still are. It should be up to the individual to make that choice when they are old enough.
