Just watched the little trailer. I'm going to miss the Pontiac Trans Am.
Anyway, piggy-backing on what Redlemon said the Mustang was mostly likely picked for money issues.
However, an interesting/geeky footnote(s): The Mustang was also the KITT used in the crappy made for tv movie Knight Rider 2010.
Personally, I'd rather have the
Knight 4000 (a customized Dodge Stealth modeled to look like a Pontiac Banshee) from the other made for tv movie Knight Rider 2000.
Lastly, why call the car the 3000 if the 4000 has already been named in previous Knight Rider works? From what I've seen it takes place after first series and the movie KR2000. So shouldn't the 5000 be the next car? I'm pretty sure the writers used the name 3000 simply to keep the acronym K.I.T.T. (Knight Industries Two Thousand) or in this case Knight Industries Three Thousand.
How many of us would say, "what the hell?" if the car was named K.I.F.T.
Finally, the original voice actor for K.I.T.T. is William Daniels. IMDB has
Will Arnett listed as the new voice.
