All amex cards have an annual fee -the gold is a higher than the green, but some of the benefits are a little better (if you use them o therwise then they aren't worth it

American express occassionally has promotions where you can get xx amount of points for every dollar spent at particular stores... but it's rare they'd do it for every purchase.

the plus side to amex - is that thier points can be converted to miles at most of the major carriers... or go directly to the airline... (hotel loyalty programs do the same thing)
