Smart, sound, environmental policy need not be diametrically opposed to business. All the good that Nixon did to make air in California breathable again has been reversed.

In regard to California, Schwarzenegger signed the
Global Warming Solutions Act last year "that establishes a first-in-the-world comprehensive program of regulatory and market mechanisms to achieve real, quantifiable, cost-effective reductions of greenhouse gases....to reduce California's greenhouse gas emissions by 25 percent by 2020."
IMO, worthy of discussion as a viable model for federal legislation and similar in several respects to the IPCC recommendations.
