I think it's pretty fair to classify it as cheesy B-grade fantasy fare. The effects were certainly well above average, as was the cast, but the script/directing/acting didn't quite elevate it out of "SciFi channel miniseries land" though I think it really had the potential to be more than that. I did enjoy the story and the new take and I definitely enjoyed the twist on her sister. I thought that the third segment had some really wonderful scenes and reveals that the first two lacked.
Glad I watched and if I was channel surfing in the future I'd probably leave it on again, but not going to end up on my to buy list.
On a side note, I'm surprised she reminds you of Ellen Muth. Zooey doesn't look or act much like Ellen, in my opinion. What was it that had you thinking it was her?
On a double side note, Dead Like Me returns in video format in the next year minus Mandy plus some dude whose name I don't recognize. I'm both thrilled and terrified.
