It might. My dad is too, but when I bought my own, they offered to quote for me and were lightyears cheaper than anyone else. They did that because bascially they'd been providing me insurance anyway for years.
If he has it, then I'd say you have a decent chance. If he doesn't, I honestly don't know. It's worth a phone call, though.
