The war in Iraq doesn't keep oil prices high, though. Iraq's stability has nothing to do with the price. In fact, the military often guards oil fields. We pay to keep production safe. Despite "high crude costs", petro companies are making RECORD profits. The oil price conspiracy lies there, methinks!
As for tensions in the middle east keeping oil prices high, it's politicking at it's worst. Putin is pro-Iran the same reason that the US was pro-Afghanistan when the Russians were here. Our enemy's enemy is our friend?
