Maybe if it's the woman saying it, but what if the man is initiating the discussion, or it's a mutual discussion that just evolves out of talking about anal in general?
That's what happened for us. I was scared of trying anal, and him trying it first helped me relax and feel much more comfortable about the idea. It wasn't a "tit for tat" thing, in that sense... we were both willing and curious, but I was scared to go first.
