Not my thing (at all), but I agree that people should be able to do it if they want too. That said, it seems to me that people who do this and other extreme body mods are (whether consciously or not) choosing a life of isolation from mainstream society that may seem like a lot better idea at 20 years of age than it will at 40+. But then, who knows -- in 20 years or so a new industry for tongue restoration surgery may spring up.
