yeah I'm playing WoW on a 7900GT and it's all dialed up. Playing Half Life 2 also... 
as far as the widescreen, I never considered that. It is one of the reasons why I played consolses for many years because I did not want to keep upgrading and tweaking to play games. I have finite gaming time and I want to play not tweak and upgrade.
I did however opt for 2 19" screens on a nice mount so I have just as much screen real estate as some of the larger widescreens and I saved so much money that I bought 2 19" and a mount for the wife also.
