The problem with the IR thing is that you only get one or the other. If you give the business sector an inch, which is all the Liberals intended with these laws, they'll take a mile. The same can be said if the unions get said inch. The AWA system can work, and I can say from experience at Visyboard Wodonga that it is a good tool if used properly. Fortunately Visy is a very progressive company and we were treated well and benefitted from the AWAs. I know there are very different stories out there but you must understand the bad ones you hear of are worst case scenario and come to light to appease someone's agenda. They were never going to be perfect straight away, and big business has shot themselves in the foot by abusing the IR laws from the start. Things will change.
I'm with you on State Governments, they are an archaic institution that should be dissolved immediately so funds can be better spent at the federal level. The bastards are only good for increasing speed cameras/pokies/luxury excises.
