Perhaps some people use the sign because they are still under the impression that having children is somehow an incredible talent that makes them special?.

Alright... you're freaking me out now.
But yeah... those signs are annoying and pointless status symbols. Self-important pompous yuppie jackasses love to mark their things and shout out to everyone in the world just what they have.
I find this to be about on par with the "my child is an honor roll student at blah blah elementary/middle/high school." What a bunch of self-centered crap... there are many good ways to teach a child about pride in a job well done. A "look at what my kid did" bumper sticker on your minivan/SUV is not one of them.
Also: what about those decals that have soccer, hockey, football, ballerina, etc., designs and then the kids' names underneath them that people stick on the back window? That's pretty much the ultimate nonsense yuppie status-symbol you can get for your vehicle, aside from the vehicle itself.
This is, of course, not to mention the fact that between those stickers and the "blahblah middle school" sticker, child predators now know the names and hobbies of your children, what your car looks like, and where they go to school. Congratulations, you're making it easier for people to track down and abduct your children! Hooray for vein stupidity!!
