BulletCatcher, where is the LCD placed? Do you have it mounted to the wall? I have 3 of those units and they do get very warm. I used to have them mounted onto my wall in front of my desk, but that caused the heat to get trapped inside the units, and they'd go blank. Just like you're referring to, make sure there is nothing blocking the back or sides of the units. If it still goes blank, take Dilbert's advice. RMA's are not easy with Screptre.
