Watched The Thin Red Line last night. It was an excellent war film (Pacific Theatre, WWII) with an all star cast. Sean Penn and Nick Nolte did a fabulous job. I liked the fact that it had a constant narrative element overlaying the action, but to me it did not paint the American troops in a particularly sympathetic light. If I recall, that was part of the controversy when it first came out.
I don't think I was wrong in seeing a distinctive anti-war theme as well. 9/10
