Mothers/ladies especially... good idea?
Technically this belongs in the advice section... but I want opinions more than advice.
My Mother's birthday is coming up and because my wife and I have baby on the way, I really dont have much $$, so I am going with the "made from the heart" idea.
My mother was a writer in college, a fairly good one at that. I recently obtained copies of her many hours laboring over the typewriter, and noticed that while the text is still clear and readable, the paper is fading away.
I have a scanner and the ability to OCR (convert scanned text into text on the computer). I have used this to scan all of my writing in the past, and found it very useful.
Would you writer ladies/mothers find it a good gift to find scanned, toughed up copies of your old writing put on a CD for you and your to read forever?
Would that work as a good gift? Or does that suck? My wife thinks I am too much of an office guy... always doing officey or tech things for gifts.
