Oh man! I just opened my PS3, after seeing the piss-poor Ebay listings ($800 Buy It Now for 60 GB, etc.).
The damn thing has FINGER PRINTS and smudges and SCRATCHES all over it!!!!!!!!!!!!
At first I didn't believe it. I just couldn't believe it. But not only that, the power switch (I/O flip switch) on the back was ON. And the power cable was out of the bag. It was still wrapped up in the twist-tie, but out of the bag. It wouldn't be that big of a deal if I didn't pay fucking $600 for it. I want a NEW system. Not some pre-owned crap.
So I go to get some paper towels and a cloth, and neither will get some of the smudges off of it. They are PERMANENT. And there are buff-scratches, where it looks like someone tried to get fingerprints off of it!!!!!!!!
I think the guys at Gamestop opened it up and played with it. And then packed it back in the box.
Like I said, a lot of the spots just won't come off. They are ingrained into the casing. It looks like someone put WD-40 on it or something at some of the spots. And there are a couple of 4" long scratches on the top of it that won't come off.
I called Gamestop, and the manager said because I did so much business there (bought a Wii and Zelda and PS3 60 GB and Resistance) that I could bring mine in in FEBRUARY and trade it in for a new one for no cost. They don't have any right now to trade with me, apparently. He said I could play mine all I wanted until February, then trade it in for a new one. So that's good, I guess. I just would like a new one right now. That's what I paid for.
