Since my innate sense of guilt would not permit me to commit such a crime, being convicted would be in error, thus running would be compounding that error. So I'd serve and appeal vigorously.
Going back to the article, regarding his assets-every one of them should be seized and the only thing left would be enough clothes on the wife's back so she's not naked when she fills out the application at Walmart. Anyone who doesn't think for a second he put even more in various family's names offshore is fooling themselves. Take the assets, let the government take a third to settle up and stick the rest in a fund for those he and his late cohort ripped off.
