I don't sign petitions unless I research what they are about. I only recall signing one petition by hand, and that was a petition for the local government to put in a stop sign somewhere.
Online petitions I never sign because they are brilliantly ineffective and the digital equivalent of putting a "We support the troops" sticker on your car. They are simply ways for people to do nothing yet feel like they have done something.
EDIT: but shit, if I got paid to get signatures on a petition, I'd be all for that. People are suckers and will sign anything. Reminds me of the skit on The Man Show when they had a petition to end women's suffrage.
