I am having that situation right now with my sister in law... she's 21 and a student. Through our own networking we got her 2 internships one in a radio station and the other with an actor's workshop.
She came to NYC two saturdays ago, and she has only looked at 4 apartments, 2 of which were rooming with guys which is not an option at all, so effectively she's found only 2 apartments. One of them she reluctantly accepted and then her parents said no because it "wasn't safe" for their precious baby.
We are buying a co-op in Manhattan and we were anxiously waiting for the co-op inspector to come to our house for an interview. She's on the phone with her fucking "loser" b/f in Europe and doesn't pick up the callwaiting. She even had given out that phone number for apartments to call back.
I sent her over 60+ classifieds of apartments in Manhattan that are in good neighborhoods including one that was at a college since her parents think that she needs to be "able to do things at night," but then are worried about where she is. I got not a single THANK YOU for sending them or feedback from her as to why they weren't apartments that she cannot look at.
She did nothing to get these internships, she's ungrateful for all that we've done for her.
She thinks automatically that the car is at her disposal without asking for it. So when I told her that she's got to figure out how to get to where she needs to via public transportation it does not compute in her tiny little brain.
She turned off our wake up alarm yesterday and didn't reset it so when I woke up LATE this morning my wife was screaming because she knows she didn't turn off the alarm. She said,"Why did you turn off my alarm to SILLY?" and her reply was,"I didn..., oh sorry."
Enough... I'm just getting myself more upset.
