Last week, while adjusting the dial that controls warm/cool air controls on my dashboard, I felt the dial "slip" off the gear and it no longer adjusts temperature. The dial turns, but there is no change in temperature, and there is no resistance to indicate the larger mechanism being altered.

I am curious if anyone is familiar with the dash/dials of a 1996 Honda Accord? If the dials can be popped off, I'd like to try to see if I can fix the issue myself, but I don't want to force them off potentially break or damage the dashboard.

With the temperature changing here, it is an issue that I will need to resolve shortly. I am not familiar with the dials on dashboards and how they are removed, and was hoping to get some feedback and guidance here.
