I'm not very big into what's in style or not... but when people wear Doc's with a suite it's like nails on a chalkboard for me. If you are wearing a suit you're seriously not supposed to wear the shoes you wear with jeans. I dont know what you mean about footgina, but there are plenty of decently priced shoes that look very professional out there that aren't the thin trace of a soul.
People in the corporate world, and every women, know that shoes are very large indicators. Think of it as having a spectacular resume, then screwing it up at the end. You wouldn't knowingly misspell anything on a resume, or change the color/font on the last few lines would you? Wearing bad shoes with a nice suit is the same thing.
