I suppose "expensive" is relative. While a few hundred bucks may be expensive to me, designer shoes could cost many times that much.
I was a skeptic about expensive leather shoes until I got a pair about 20 years ago, and they felt soooooooo much better on my feet than any other leather shoe I ever had, not to mention looking good when I got dressed in a suit, in both looks and comfort there is just something about the way they wrap around my feet. The leather is very supple and soft, but still durable and they also fit just right. After many years I sent those back to the factory for reconditioning, they came back almost better than new for a fraction of the price of new, since then I bought another pair of the same brand, one is laced one is slip on, both are "dress" shoes so I only wear them when I want to dress up. These will likely last til I die so I don't plan to buy more unless something happens to these.
