The issue here is over the nature of the Israeli campaign in comparison to a hypothetical campaign against Iran. The Israeli campaign was not a short series of surgical strikes. Deploying that against Iran would be fine, if executed properly. The Israeli campaign was an attempt to force change on the ground through the almost exclusive use of air power. If it was a test bed for the U.S. plans in Iran, it was a failure. If we are concerned about a nuclear program in Iran (which is something that MUST be avoided), attempting to change the political structure through the use of just air power is clearly not the way to do it.
